Studying in Holland is like an open window to Europe

Herru Perdana (20), Indonesia
Bachelor in Information Technology, Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven.

I came from the other side of the world to study in Holland. Indeed, the culture is very different. Here you are free to do anything that you want, as long as you don't bother anyone else. The Dutch like to enjoy life. But ask someone for help, and you can count on him.

The Dutch people are not the typical kind of die-hard workers. They also know how to party. I went to a lot of great festivals and carnivals here. I have four Dutch housemates, who are really cool. We study, hang out, go on vacation trips, etc. Living with them helps me to learn about Dutch cultures and habits, and of course the language. I learn a lot from them.

I'm happy with my study programme at university. We are being trained to prepare us for the real working environment right after we graduate. Having practical lessons, projects (some of them are real company's project), and three internships are the good strategies that Fontys offers to help us. This will prepare me to work as a professional in my field of study. For me, it is such a wonderful experience to work here in the Netherlands. Even though I have not done my first internship yet, I think being part of a real working system in the Netherlands is a very good opportunity.

For me, studying in Holland is like an open window to Europe. As I love to travel, Holland is an ideal spot. It is close to other countries in Western Europe: Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, and the UK are all neighbours. You can travel easily. France, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark and Italy are not far either. Studying here is an opportunity to enter a new life, it's a whole new experience.
