Grants and scholarships

Fontys University of Applied Sciences has a number of scholarships available:

1. Huygens Scholarship Programme

HSP Huygens Programme is open to students from all countries of the world. It is aimed at talented students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies or during their master’s studies. Study can include research and/or practical training. The Dutch Minister for Education, Culture and Science has made four million euro available for international students coming to the Netherlands under the HSP Huygens Programme. There is no fixed number of available scholarships, but the actual number is determined by the total cost of the variable components of the scholarships.
Check the Nuffic website for all up-to-date information and requirements.

2. Fontys Excellence Scholarships

For each academic year, Fontys University has a restricted number of scholarships available for non-European students who pay the higher non-European tuition fee. Students with the best study results after the first 6 months or first 18 months can be considered to receive a scholarship.

3. Socrates-Erasmus

The Socrates-Erasmus programme is a subsidy programme from the EU specifically for improving international mobility within Higher Education in Europe. To be eligible for a subsidy, the participating Higher Education institutions must be holders of a European University Charter (EUC). Since 2003 (the first year), Fontys has held an EUC.

It is a requirement for subsidy that prior to all mobility activities, a bilateral agreement be entered into with the intended partner institution. This is left to the institutions themselves, but the FIO maintains a list of Socrates Partner institutions.
