It is important that you know and understand that Dutch regulations about residence in the Netherlands are very strict. In most cases, you will need an ‘authorisation for temporary stay’ (MVV) to even enter the Netherlands. When remaining in the Netherlands for more than 3 months, you will need a residence permit.
Whether or not you have to apply for a visa will depend on your nationality. Regulations about nationalities that require an MVV change regularly. You will receive information from the Fontys International Office (FIO) about what procedure you need to follow.
Maybe we can help
To be eligible for either an MVV and/or a residence permit, you must meet certain requirements and you will need to provide a number of documents. If you have been accepted as a Fontys Student, under certain conditions, we are able to apply for an MVV on your behalf. In most cases, this procedure works faster. Visit the Fontys International Office website for more information about the possibility of Fontys applying, on your behalf.
Dutch immigration service (IND)
You can visit the IND website (the Dutch immigration service responsible for entry into the Netherlands) and check the residence Wizard, to see what conditions you must meet, and to see what documents you will need in order to be able to stay in the Netherlands. As already stated, the requirements will depend on your specific situation.
